Top 5 Animal Logos by Hovie - Ray's Boathouse Fish

This week we are exploring the top 5 animal logos created by Design Hovie Studios.

Number 1
Ray's Boathouse - Seattle Washington USA

This logo was designed in around 2007 was the result of a very long process in which we created over 30 logo options for this historic and long standing Seattle restaurant.

The logo showcases a stylized fish swimming through the Rays logotype. The key was to design something with the essence of a fish but without being too specific as to a species since the award winning restaurant offers many different types of fish on their menu.

Top 5 Animal Logos by Hovie - Zebra Hill Zebra

This week we are exploring the top 5 animal logos created by Design Hovie Studios.

Number 4
Zebra Hill Marketing - Bellevue Washington USA

This logo was designed back in 1999 and took a crazy amount of hours working with the curves and pen tool in good old Macromedia Freehand.

Funny thing is zebras are quite squatty so we elongated the original shape just a bit to give the form a bit more elegance. Only the most fervent zebra researcher ever notices.

Check back tomorrow to see logo number 3.

Number 5
Dolomiti Friulane Parco Naturale Regionale - Italy

The logo showcases a stylized eagle (the symbol of the park) in the park's brand colors: navy blue, chocolate brown, and burnt orange.

Check back tomorrow to see logo number 4.

Die Cut Business Card Design by Hovie

Die cutting business cards can add uniqueness to your brand. Here at Design Hovie Studios, we love utilizing this tool, which is less expensive than many think. Above are two examples of business cards we've designed with specific die cuts.

For Idaho clipper company Klhip, we used the die cut to enhance the brand we created by cutting the card in the same spot where we cut the K in the logo design.

For Seattle furniture company Just Green, we used the die cut to mimmic the leaf shape we created for their brand.

Die cutting business cards can add value to your brand image, especially in today's world where basic cut cards are everywhere.

Design Hovie Studios in Chelan

Although we've operated in Seattle since 1998 (with a wonderful 2 year stint in Milan from 2000-2002), did you know Design Hovie Studios also has a satellite studio on Lake Chelan in central Washington?

Creative Director, Hovie Hawk, began working out of the Chelan location part-time last summer and has continued that set-up this year. Working in Chelan allows Hovie to better serve clients in the area as well as experience sunshine which can be a rarity in Seattle.

Even though in Chelan part-time, it's only a quick 3 hour drive back to Seattle so Hovie is still easily accessible to our many Seattle area clients. Whether you're in Seattle or Chelan or Milan for that matter, we hope you continue to consider Design Hovie Studios for all your graphic design needs.
