At Design Hovie Studios, we recently completed the new logo and brand for Great Walls, a Bellevue, Washington based company that provides custom framed artwork for hotels and vacation condos throughout the world (they make the walls better, great). It was an exciting project that presented interesting challenges.
For one, the company does not create actual walls, they make the walls better. Secondly, the company's aesthetic, as is ours, is contemporary, modern and clean. How do you convey what they provide in a minimalist genre?
Our solution came about while playing with the letterforms. The double L's allowed for an interesting slant when altered and let us create an overhead room view. We then chose to emphasize the "great wall" in a modern persimmon color to create an interesting and unique brand.
All in all I'm very happy with this solution. Now we're on to the web site and collateral material. Stay tuned to see how the brand evolves.
